This sensational new audio electronics brand is something of a high-end dream team, blessed with the talents of distinguished designers like John Curl, Bascom King, Peter Madnick and Demian Martin, and assembled by two of the founders of Continuum, a company widely acknowledged to manufacture the finest vinyl record players in the world. D’Agostino Master Audio Systems

Following the hugely successful launch of the Momentum Mono and Stereo power amplifiers, the founder of Krell is launching the first preamp under his own name: the equally majestic Momentum Preamplifier [reviewed exclusively in this month's HFN], complete with D’Agostino’s iconic copper casework and signature front-mounted meter – inspired by the styling of fine Swiss watches – with precision sonics to match.

Devialet

Devialet’s first product, the extraordinary Devialet D-Premier – a highly innovative ADH (Analogue Digital Hybrid) amplifier with direct digital inputs in a single stunning chassis – is arguably the most-talked about and universally acclaimed high-end audio component of the last few years. Now, this remarkable Parisian company is launching three second-generation components building upon the D-Premier’s unique design philosophy and ADH amp technology, including the Devialet 170 – reviewed exclusively in the September edition of Hi-Fi News and present at the show.

EAT

Manufacturer of magnificent turntables, Euro Audio Team is showcasing its highly distinctive and utterly fabulous E-Glo valve-based phono preamplifier, a distinctive design reminiscent of a reel-to-reel tape recorder with superlative sound to match.

Jadis

Maker of stunning valve amps, as beautiful to the eye as they are to the ear, Jadis is bringing the stunning JA120 mono power amps to the show. A classic combination of glass and metal, polished to a mirrored shine, delivering a sound that intoxicates the listener with pure, liquid emotion.

Sonus faber

Handcrafted in the historic town of Vicenza, Italy, Sonus faber’s new Olympica range is the perfect marriage of form and function. Two models will be present at the show – the standmount Olympica I and floorstanding Olympica II – each encased in beautifully finished wood veneers with exquisite detailing in leather and other fine materials. Truly, it’s impossible to fully grasp the beauty of these speakers until you see – and hear – them up close for the first time. Like the finest furniture, they are as beautiful to the eye as they are to the ear; to see them is to want them...

TechDAS

The extraordinary Air Force One is a new high-end turntable [reviewed in HFN June '13], designed and built in Japan, and brought to the UK exclusively by Absolute Sounds. The platter floats on an air bearing for ultra-stable, friction-free rotation, while adjustable air suspension ensures a complete absence of interference from air- and floor-borne vibration. A silent outboard vacuum pump clamps records perfectly flat against the platter, and there’s the facility to mount two different tonearms to give the end-user ultimate flexibility. Truly, this is an awesome feat of precision audio engineering, delivering unsurpassed sound quality for collectors of vinyl records who demand the very best.

Wilson Audio

The show sees the first UK appearance of the Duette Series II – successor to the original Duette, proclaimed by many to be the best ‘bookshelf’ speaker in the world. You won’t believe the sound this extraordinary ‘little’ speaker can produce!

Keith Tonge, PMC's marketing manager, says, “We are very excited about the forthcoming Hi-Fi Show and are pleased to be able to bring together two PMC clients from the world of music to demonstrate what goes into recording the music we all listen to. It’s the perfect place for visitors to the show to learn about how music transitions from the studio into the home and the important role PMC speakers play in that process.”

The fact.12 loudspeaker was launched at the High End Show, Munich in May and is making its UK show debut at The Hi-Fi Show. fact.12 is the first three-way speaker to be introduced into the established fact family, which already includes the award-winning two-way stand mount fact.3 and two-way floor-standing fact.8. Developed using the results of PMC’s ground-breaking work with the National Physical Laboratory, like its stablemates, the fact.12 features a tall cabinet with a very slender front profile, which houses the most up to date version of the company’s Advanced Transmission Line (ATL™) bass loading technology.

With its heritage in professional studio monitors, PMC loudspeakers are designed to bring the music from the studio into the home, sounding the same as it did during the recording process. To illustrate this clearly, the second demonstration system will feature the range-topping BB5 SE speakers - the domestic version of the world’s leading reference studio monitor system, the BB5 XBD-A. The BB5 SE is the flagship of the new SE series of loudspeakers, which also includes the other large three-way models, the IB2 and MB2, and combines PMC’s uncompromising build quality with luxurious Rose and Rich Macassar veneers.

The fact.12 and BB5 SE will be powered by Bryston 28BSST2 amplifiers, delivering up to 1000W per channel, with music coming from the BDP-2 and BDA-2 digital player/DAC combination.

Demonstrating PMC’s close association with the music industry, two professionals who choose to use PMC for recording and personal listening will be appearing at the show. During the morning, the world-renowned mastering engineer and professional audio expert, Crispin Murray, will be presenting a master class on vinyl cutting and mastering. Murray recently oversaw the half-speed cutting of two Eleanor McEvoy tracks at Metropolis Studios in London using the BB5 XBD-A system and will be using the BB5 SE to demonstrate the results.

Appearing during the mornings and afternoons, the second of PMC’s guests will be performing a live session. Renowned Irish singer songwriter, Eleanor McEvoy, will be playing a 30-minute set performing the same tracks used for the half-speed vinyl demonstration and other material. After each set Eleanor will be taking questions from the audience about her extensive recording career.

Still in the planning phase of its exciting presentation, Musical Fidelity's Richard Trotter says "Musical Fidelity will anchor its demonstration with the M8 preamp and M8 700 power amps (the son of Titan and reviewed in Hi-Fi News, Jan '13) with the M6 CD player and M6 DAC as the primary source. Part of our presentation will involve an exploration of the 'future of Bluetooth' while we will also demonstrate the Pure Class A AMS35i amplifier with, possibly, a high end turntable! The loudspeakers for all our systems are kindly supplied by Bowers & Wilkins with a pair of B&W 805s partnering our AMS35i amplifier for truly mouth-watering results!

In addition to CD-based sources, Chord Electronics' world-renowned bespoke FPGA DACs, such as the QBD76 HDSD and the QuteHD, are also expected to be on demonstration and a suitably high-end complement of amplification will be supporting the source components. Derived from the award-winning 909 and 990, they are beautifully designed and built to deliver outstanding musical performance at a sane price point. The 908 has a colour display, remote control and a full suite of control options plus TASLink. This is a premium amplifier for music lovers: a fully balanced/bridged design with a 6H6П super tube voltage gain stage married to a solid-state output stage and delivering high-end performance that is truly the best of both worlds.

Isol-8 will feature the SubStation Integra audiophile power conditioner. It combines key technologies found in the acclaimed SubStation HC & LC all in one box. Improved Transmodal filters, high capacity Axis DC blocking and earth cleaning networks supply two separate high and low power sections. Two outlets have ultra low impedance, multistage filters for effortlessly supplying amplifiers without dynamic compromise. The remaining four outlets each have their own filter and are optimised for source components. The benefits of supplying even a high-end system with clean power are not to be underestimated. Come and hear for yourself!”
